Keepin' it Classy

Class is a choice, just like being an ass or feeding the homeless are choices.  Class shows in our thoughts, our words, the way we choose to conduct ourselves and in our attitude.  It's a way of being that eventually becomes natural to do without effort.  It's a belief system, self respect and respect for others.  What it is not is a commodity. It can not be bought, rented, faked or sold.  It belongs to those who make room for it in every aspect of their lives.  Class doesn't not care about money and expensive things.

There will always be those who fake virtues, just look at Hollyweird or Politicians.  Their as fake as it gets...in their expensive clothes, jets, big houses and fake smiles.  They are nothing but puppets...no matter how much their done up, they do not have class.  I see this in the hobby.  A few years ago there was a provider on a hobby board talking about how classy she is and how classy others are not.  Her argument was that she drove a BMW, had a collection of expensive bags and needlessly ate at only very expensive restaurants.  None of this is classy.  If anything, it's irresponsible and speaks to her insecurity and mindset.

I'm not implying that there is something wrong with buying nice things, I like nice things myself. It's when we're defining ourselves by those nice things or thinking we need to somehow buy a persona or virtue we have not done the work to possess class that it becomes a problem.  If we're willing to go that far to look a certain way we need to take a good, long look at ourselves and possibly get some help.

When I'm visiting with a friend, he's not sitting next to me wondering what the tag on my clothes say, judging me by my car or checking out the name on my bag.  No one has ever ended our session over me not wearing expensive things or driving a certain car.  Yet, I'm classy, mature, intelligent, respectful to me and him. His memories are going to be of the fun we had together, not material nonsense. I have no need to try to invest in an image or appease those who have no idea what class is.  I have no need to fake anything as being myself is this highest form of class I can offer.

In my humble opinion, class is easy to have if we're doing the right things for the right reasons. It's a reflection of who we truly are.

Class can be found in homeless person living on the streets and be absent from the richest person on the planet.  Like everything in life, it's a choice.

Stay Classy!
